Unionized Starbucks Employees to Strike on “Red Cup Day” This Week

1000’s of unionized Starbucks employees will stroll off their jobs on Thursday, with the one-day work stoppages coming to protest the corporate’s stance with outlets that voted to arrange, in response to Starbucks Staff United.

The labor motion is timed to for Starbucks’ Pink Cup Day, an annual occasion through which the espresso big palms out holiday-themed reusable cups. Starbucks has refused to barter in good religion over staffing and different points which are notably acute throughout promotions, in response to the union.

“Starbucks is creating unnecessarily demanding working situations by scheduling promotion after promotion with out growing staffing,” Neha Cremin, a Starbucks employee in Oklahoma Metropolis, stated in an announcement to CBS MoneyWatch. “Starbucks has made it clear that they will not hearken to employees, so we’re advocating for ourselves by happening strike.” 

Starbucks executives preserve that the union is unwilling to barter and have for months declined to satisfy for contract talks.

“We’re conscious that Staff United has publicized a day of motion at a small subset of our U.S. shops this week,” Starbucks said in an e-mail.
